The History of Compagnie Parento
Founded in 1901 , Compagnie Parento is one of the oldest domestic creators and manufacturers of perfume oils in the United States. Addington Doolittle, our founder, thought it was time to break the American dependency on imported perfume and began producing fragrance oils in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. The original factory sent smells through the village. Our second president, Eugene Barton, took over the company after Mr. Doolittle’s death. During this time, Mr. Barton cofounded the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials. Upon Mr. Barton’s death in 1976, Roger Kiley, president of Flavor Sciences Inc, purchased Compagnie Parento, Inc. with his wife Joyce. In the early 2000s, both businesses were moved to Lenoir, North Carolina to form a full-scale domestic flavor and fragrance operation. In 2021, Griffin Dilsaver, and his wife, Renea Dilsaver, both graduates of NC State University, purchased the business to continue the production. Today, after our 120 year history, Compagnie Parento, Inc. is still a proud supplier of fragrance oils to some of the finest companies in the United States and abroad.
